By judging from the games you play, your easier with gaming.
I used to be into gaming more than anything else. I would have knowledge of games like 4 years before they come out. You could ask me a release date for a game and I would have known it. Then I got into airsoft. then climbing buildings. then cubing.

Also, my taste in gaming is all about sick storyline (and fun online gaming when I don't have any new games). It separates me from the mainstream gamers who only play gears of war or super smash bros.

not WoW, thats kind of nerdy in most cases.
i'm talking about some crazy online shooter gamers or gamers who play the nontypical games that are so awesome like Half-Life 2 for instance.

i was CAL last season for counter-strike: source and im pretty leet on guild wars? and my fav games are metal gear solid series, kingdom hearts series, Jak & Daxter series, cs games, and thats all i can think of for now.

if you like tactical shooters, the older rainbow six games were beastly. the vegas games totally got rid of all their realism of tactics.

i had one of the original rainbow six games for the ps1

HL-2 is not a non typical game, it was, then everyone started playing it, and its out on every next gen (i guess we call then now gen) systems (except for the Wii)
plus every game you play is mainstream
you arent the renegade gamer you think you are : P

half life 2 is very nontypical. its not even that popular. even if it was popular, it doesnt make it typical. its not like a gears of war shootemup-no-storyline game. the only prince of persia game that became mainstream was the two thrones. heavenly sword was not so typical either. god of war was mainstream, but it is still nontypical. Rainbow Six Vegas is mainstream, but it is nothing like gears of war or COD4 where its just mindless shooting. It still contains some realism. Indigo Prophecy is not typical at all, nor was it popular. Portal was popular but not typical. Team Fortress 2 was very mainstream, but it was only a side game just for the sake of online gaming on the orange box.

Lastly, Metal Gear Solid was in no way mainstream. It was popular, but not to everyone who owned a ps2 or ps3. It definitely has the greatest deepest longest complex storyline out of any game (or movie) ever.

I don't think I'm a renegade gamer, but I do have an overall non-mainstream taste in gaming. Most people like online shooting, which I do like, but there is a point where realism in shooters must existant for me to play the game.

all of your games are typical, they have the same characteristics of any other mainly/only offline game

and what makes them not mainstream if tons of people play them?

because it has to be mainstream if millions of ppl play them

my favorite game ever is teh legend of zelda:ocarina of time for nintendo 64. last summer i beat it 8 times cause it was so fun(thats what she said)
